Rate damping for VicaCopter 3 isn't working. Either the ESC's R too slow to propagate throttle changes or the software is broken. Here's what it looks like. The test stand has exactly the same rate damping characteristics as earlier test flights. There should be no flopping, regardless of ground effect.

In today's video, angular rates have been limited enough for a human to control the tilt reasonably well. The key was increasing the PWM to 100Hz, using nonlinear feedback curves, increasing gyro bandwidth. At higher power levels, the angular rates R still out of control. That might be ground effect or gyro aliasing from propeller vibrations.
